Our membership voted –both in person and via absentee ballots — to award our 2023 WUIP Impact Grant to The Food Brigade. The $40,000 grant award will be used to strengthen and expand their home-delivery food program by purchasing a commercial vehicle, to be known as the “Helpmobile” for home deliveries of food, infant diapers, adult diapers, and feminine hygiene products to mothers and families in need. The Helpmobile will expand the agency’s geographic reach and serve approximately 275 women per week, increasing service to at least 100 new delivery households within a one-year period.
In addition, we were pleased to award general operating grants of $2,500 each to Center for Hope and Safety and Women’ Rights Information Center, both of whom do incredibly important work for women in Bergen County.
I wanted to thank each of you for making this grant award possible through your membership commitment to Women United in Philanthropy. Having all of our membership pledges completed by December 31st this year is what gave us the option to support a capital request such as this one. Thank you!
