We will be featuring Erica West of Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress acted to ensure Americans did not lose access to critical health care by preventing states from terminating a person’s Medicaid coverage, even if they no longer qualified. After a three-year pause, this protection is unwinding. That means that over the next 12 months, there will be a wave of Medicaid disenrollment for low-income New Jersey residents. Erica will discuss how BVMI’s Women’s Health Initiative seeks to ensure uninsured women in Bergen County will continue to have access to physical and mental health care services.
